Riding in Harmony

The Power of Two

An Intuitive Horsemanship Intensive

Date to be Announced - Green Mountain, NC

As the horse and rider come in to the ring, the beauty of their connection takes the audience’s breath away.  The pair begins moving through their pattern, flowing and flawless, reminiscent of  Rogers and Astaire.  It is as if the horse and rider are ONE… The cues and communication between the two artists are invisible and effortless… The audience feels the intimate relationship.  In their hearts each person is riding with the rider and with the horse.  The relationship between horse and riderconnects everyone in the arena.

Welcome to The Power of Two

Come ready to participate in an experience that will change the way you relate to your horse.  Learn to focus on your insights, truth, and wisdom regarding your horse and your riding. This is an intimate program taught by  Epona Approach Facilitators who believe that integrity and compassion are essential elements in the equestrian arts.

The Power of Two is an intensive learning program with a focus on developing awareness – of your horse, yourself, and your environment.  In the Power of Two you will learn:

To enhance all aspects of the time you spend with your horse – catching, grooming, tacking, leading, riding, and ground work.

To develop a clear working relationship with your horse by learning to speak “horse” – focus on your non-verbal communication and recognize cues from your horse

To become a better equestrian by developing new communication skills based on personal awareness rather than expectations set by someone else.

The Power of Two empowers every rider  – regardless of discipline or trainer – to reach their highest potential.

Intuitive Horsemanship

Intuitive Horsemanship is like a waltz – there are three steps you take over and over again to create the dance with your horse. The steps are: 1) Maintaining Awareness;  2) Opening your mind and heart to Acceptance of your awareness; 3) Responding Authentically to all situations.  Awareness will help you widen your focus when you are with your horse.  You then learn to Accept your own insights, and choose techniques and goals that are a fit for you and for your horse. Finally, you respond from Authenticity and choose in each moment to do what is of service to you and to your horse.

Relationship for riding

Professional trainers and clinicians talk about building a partnership with horses.  They demonstrate techniques and tools that work for them. These techniques rest on the foundation of their awareness. Problems can arise when you apply someone else’s technique without building confidence in and respect for your own process and awareness. In The Power of Two you learn to be keenly aware of yourself and to rely on observation, intuition, and experience. You will build your own secure foundation to support whatever techniques you currently use .
