Equinection is pleased to support Yancey County helping professionals by offering our Compassion Fatigue and Self Care workshop and the Healthy Boundaries workshop on a complimentary basis. Helping professionals (such as a physician, hospice care provider, educator, social worker, etc.) who work for Yancey County non-profits and healthcare agencies, and organizations serving the Yancey County community are eligible to attend these workshops without fee.
These workshops are for those who work in the helping professions. Therapists, Doctors, Nurses, Teachers - any profession whose members are subject to emotional stress and compassion fatigue can benefit from working with horses. Horses have a great deal to teach us about boundaries - both physical and energetic. For professionals who work with people in health care or mental health, for example, it is vital to be able to separate your own emotions from those of your clients, and to maintain clean boundaries.
All the work is on the ground - there is no riding involved. Dress for the outdoors, rain or shine. Please wear boots (no steel toes) and bring a sun hat.
We have the following Thursday dates available (10 am to 4 pm) to schedule for Yancey
County: June 25, July 16 or August 27. Scheduling is done on a first come, first served basis. Please specify which workshop you would like to schedule.
Please bring a brown bag lunch. We will provide snacks and beverages.
Group size is limited to six people (special arrangements can be made for larger groups).
